My favorite stories

I never know when a subject is going to grab me an push me toward my computer and of course, into the Blog spot where I get to converse with you!

This is one of those moments....

I was in the mood to read a good book so I wondered into the room I call my "favorite reading space".  My husband just calls it the Living Room.  I love it because I have a comfortable chair with a footstool, there is no TV blasting, no radio and the traffic noise in the street is no problem most of the time.

As I walked over to the bookcase, searching for something I had as yet to read, I picked up "Waking up in Heaven".  I love books that speak of heaven in all its glory, and God allowing someone to have a few moments for a 'Sneak-Peak".  I never doubt on of these accounts of such a journey because my own sister happened to have a situation as a child--but that is another story for another time.

When I began to read the book, written by Crystal McVea I had the strong nudge to come in here to my desk and tell you about some of these stories I have encountered.

Of course, I am sure you have heard of and probably read "Heaven is Real", that has recently become a movie.  It is the true story of a four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who experienced heaven during emergency surgery.  Colton Burpo met his grandfather, whom he did not know, as well as a little girl who told him she was his sister .  His mother had miscarried a child but had never mentioned it to him.  His story is remarkable.

The first book I read that really began my interest in this type literature was" 90 minutes in Heaven".  I was intrigued with the story line so I had to read it , cover to cover.  Written by Don Piper, it is a true story of Don being in a car accident, dying from severe injuries, being transported into Heaven and then returning as he heard someone singing, " Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bare, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer."

It was Dick Onerecker who came upon the scene of the wreck, knowing God was telling him to pray for the man in the wrecked car.  He told the officers on at the scene that he wanted to go and pray for the person and was told, "He is dead.".  Dick didn't care.  He only knew God wanted him to pray for the man.  Don had been pronounced dead 90 minutes earlier!

If you haven't read this book, it is a must read!  I would love to hear what your favorite books are!  Please take the time to click on COMMENTS and say Hello!

Pray for the Girls

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18

PRAY FOR THE GIRLS IN NIGERIA

We attended Morning Worship at The Christian Church of Vacaville this week and when we arrived we were given several slips of paper, about 1/2 x 1inch long with names written on them.  They were names that were foreign to us!  We were told the explanation would be given during the service.

The message had to do with the gifts we each have and that we are all created with different gifts and it is important to step up and share our gifts in God's time.  Though we may not be aware we all have, if not the gift of praying for others, the capability to pray.

As the Pastor Arne stepped up to speak, he explained the the names on the slips we had received are names of the 200+ girls who were taken from the school in Nigeria and are being held someplace that is so dangerous, the people are fearful to try and rescue them.

We were asked to pray for the specific names we received as well as any others whose names are unknown to us.

Let's all chose a day and time, inform everyone we know throughout the world to pray for them to be delivered safely to their families.

I would like for you to join me Wednesday evening at 7:00pm pacific time to ask God to place a hedge around them and open the doors for them to walk out.

Please share this link or the information to everyone you know so we may have millions praying together!
